“Saving the world through science and theater”

Infinity Box Theatre Project uses the power of theater to pose questions about the human consequences of science and technology. Combining quality story telling with quality conversation is our way to provoke and foster a deeper and wider conversation about the important questions and choices that scientific discovery and technological innovation increasingly present us.

Our vision is a world where everyone has both the right and opportunity to engage in fruitful discussions about changes in science and technology, and participates in decisions about where these changes will take us.

7th Annual Thought Experiments on the Question of Being Human:

“AI: Machines that Understand”

Whether the A in AI stands for Artificial or Augmented, whether we think of an AI as a smart machine or as a tool for making us smarter, we are encountering them in more and more of our daily lives. They will soon be ubiquitous. And mundane - in the sense that they may be so woven

into our daily experience that we take them for granted.

But what does it mean for a machine to “understand?” To understand what I mean? Or what I want?

And what do I become in a world where many of the ordinary things around me exhibit such understanding?

Thought Experiments will return to Pacific Science Center on September 27, 28 and 29,

in collaboration with the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
